MEMORANDUM BY THE GERMAN DELEGATION
ONTUE EXPORT TO CZECHOSLOVAKIA OF LITHIUM ALUMINIU19 HYDRIDE
The German authorities havo received an application to license a
shipment to Czechloslovakia of
13k; lithium aluminium h; Bride,
covered by Item 35 of the Atomic Energy List,
valued at A 1,115.
The material is the same as mentioned in COCOM Documents 3315, 3389,
3554, 3664, 3812 and CH%15'8, It will be used as reducing agent in
the production of pharmaceutical products.
It is extremely difficult to use this compound as source, for
lithium metal on account of its high percentage of aluminium, such
a process would also be very uneconomical since there are sufficient
natural resources of lithiur:-bearing minerals.
This caso is submitted as an ad hog; request. The German authorities
trust that in vier of the small quantity and value involved, the civilian
end-use, and the nature of the material no objection will be raised
against this shipment. Tho German Delegation would appreciate hearing
the viers of Governments by Juna lst, 1960.
