Export of Electronic Ground Servicing Equipment to the
Soviet Union
Memorandum by the United Kingdom Dele ag tion
The United Kingdom authorities have been asked to approve
the export on loan to Aeroflot Limited of the U.S.S.R. of the
following specialised items of ground servicing equipment:-
1 Bench Rig complete with Connectors
1 Aerial Amplifier Type 803 S/N 11.
1 Type 331 Display Head S/N 641.
3 Decometers Type 802 (RGP) SIN 205.
1 Type 839 Control Unit S/N 86.
1 Type 801 Control Unit S/N 38.
2. These equipments are required to enable ground servicing
to be carried out in Moscow on the two Mark X airborne
equipments which have been supplied for free loan evaluation
trials in aircraft which participate in scheduled commercial
flights to free world destinations. The export of the Mark X
airborne equipments was permitted by the United Kingdom
authorities under the note to I.L. No. 1501 (b) (2) of COCOM
document 3300 and was notified to the Committee in the United
Kingdom's statistical return for October 1959. The period of
the loan has now been extended from six to twelve months.
3. The total value of the servicing equipments is approxim-
ately % 2,700 and they are covered by I.L. 1501 (f) of COCOM
document No. 4000.
4. Her Majesty's Government wish to authorise the export of
these items on loan for the period of the evaluation trials :-Ls
a servicing exception. Her Majesty's Government would be
grateful for the views of member governments by April 7 or on
a bilateral basis to the United Kingdom Delegation by April 13.
