MEMOR IDUM FROM UNITED STATES DELEGATION
CONCERNING
THE EXPORT TO POLAND OF MINED BORAX
S4
The United States authorities have been requested to license for export
to Poland 500 tons of refined borax valued at $32,605. This material is
intended for consignment to CIECH, Warsaw and resale in Poland for the
production or manufacture of enamel and glass to be distributed within
Poland.
The United States authorities request the approval of this export
under the special Polish exception policy. It is anticipated that ship-
ment will be made during the second quarter of 1960, and it has been
concluded that this export is reasonable and necessary to the Polish
civilian economy in terms of requirements for refined borax foreseen
beginning in the third quarter of this year, The usual assurances
against trans-shipment and re-export of this material, including the
end-products, have been obtained.
The United States Delegation will be pleased to receive the views
of other delegations on March 7 as agreed in the Committee on February 15.
