The Verman authorities have received an application for the
export to Poland of;

The equipment is specially designed to test broadcasting and
TV antennas and to determine the most favourable place for
their installation. They have been used for many years for
these purposes.

Though TV in Poland is rather widespread, the whole area of
the country is not yet covered by TV transmitting stations,
This asks for the installation-of areal test equipment, to
guarantee - even in distant locations -- a clear reception.

Furthermore, it ij intended to set up a second TV preSramm
within a not too distant future. The relevant tralismitting
stations will presumably work within the 500 1i c/o range,
which may explain the intention of the Polish firm
111;lektrim ?olskie Towarzystwo Handlu" in Grarsaw
-- (in older to be able to answer future request) - to dis-
pose of ecuipment, in particular such, capable to indicate
the 500 !: c/s area.
The fact, that as accessories dipol test antennas for
TV bands I, III and IV as well as for broadcasting bands
have been ordered, confirms the authe~.ticity of the
declarations, i. e. the equipment will be installed for
civilian purposes only.
It may be minted out that this equipment complies with
the conditions of the Note to item 1529 (a) which had been
put forward and later withdrawn by the German delegatio:i in
iovember 1959.
This request is submitted within the fraiork of the
special policy adopted towards Poland. The German Authorities
would like to grant the export licence and hope that no
objections will be raised in the Committee.
