CO-ORDINATING COMMITTEE Export of Chemicals to East Germany Memorandum by the United Kingdom Delegation The United Kingdom authorities have been asked to approve the export to East Germany of the following materials included on the Atomic Energy List:- A. E. List Weight in Grammes Material Value 0 4~;Ac 54 Y(~} 1 Uranium Oxide 4.34 1(g) 5 Thorium oxide 2.98 35 500 Lithium Nitrate 41.12 2. The uranium oxide and thorium oxide are required by Dia-Chemie, Berlin and the lithium nitrate by Technocommerz G.m.b.H., Berlin. Both firms state that these ehomicz.ls will be used in laboratory work. 3. Her Apia jesty' s Government wish to authorise the export of these materials as ad hoc exceptions, as the quantities involved would, in their view, have no strategic significance.
