UNITED KINGDOM PROPOSAL TO EXPORT QUARTZ CRYSTALS TO POLAND
November 2nd, 1959
Present: Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, United
Kingdom, United States.
Reference: COCOM Document No. 3723.
1. The CHAIRMAN drew the attention of the Committee to the United Kingdom
proposal to export 70 quartz crystals to Poland. He invited Delegates to give
the views of their authorities.
2. The UNITED STATES Delegate said that his authorities did not object
to this export but in the interest of advancing the Committee's knowledge of
Polish requirements they had asked the United Kingdom if it was possible to
give a breakdown of the number of crystals being supplied to each of the two
end-users and also whether the United Kingdom had any views as to the likelihood
of the Polish Aeroclubts being used as a military training unit.
3. There were no objections to this export by the other Members of the
Committee.
4. The UNITED KINGDOM Delegate undertook to inform the Committee of the
replies to the United States questions as soon as possible. He expressed his
thanks for the favourable replies which had been given to the export request.
