Memorandum b, the United Kingdom Delegation
The United KiDgdom authorities have been asked to approve
the export to the U.S.S.R. of items of television test equipment
as listed below. These are stated to be needed for the testing
of television studio equipment for which purpose they are
considered to be a normal and necessary requirement. The
importer is Technoimport, Loscow.
(A) 2 Line Strobe Waveform Monitors, T pe B.D.66oA
and associated Probe Amplifiers (2), Type B.D.697B.
These. ore covered by I.L. Item 1584 and their total
value is $4, 240. Export of this type of equipment
to the U.S.S.R. has previously been agreed by the
Committee and a full technical description will be
found in COCOM Document No. 2976.
(B) 8 Connecting Cables and 185 other Connectors for
use with the above and with other items of studio
equipment. They comprise short lengths of cable
which is covered by I.L. 1525 but none exceeds
10 feet in length. Their total value is 034.
2. The test equipment described above has been in general
use for some time and, indeed, was regarded as obsolescent
at the time of the earli,r submission. The linking cables
are not considered to be of any strategic importance because
of their short length.
3. For these reasons the United Kingdom authorities wish to
authorise this export and would be grateful if the member
&?overnments would consider this submission on an ad hoc basis
and give their views by October 22.
United Kingdom Delegation,
