Memorandum b, the United Kingdom Delegation The United KiDgdom authorities have been asked to approve the export to the U.S.S.R. of items of television test equipment as listed below. These are stated to be needed for the testing of television studio equipment for which purpose they are considered to be a normal and necessary requirement. The importer is Technoimport, Loscow. (A) 2 Line Strobe Waveform Monitors, T pe B.D.66oA and associated Probe Amplifiers (2), Type B.D.697B. These. ore covered by I.L. Item 1584 and their total value is $4, 240. Export of this type of equipment to the U.S.S.R. has previously been agreed by the Committee and a full technical description will be found in COCOM Document No. 2976. (B) 8 Connecting Cables and 185 other Connectors for use with the above and with other items of studio equipment. They comprise short lengths of cable which is covered by I.L. 1525 but none exceeds 10 feet in length. Their total value is 034. 2. The test equipment described above has been in general use for some time and, indeed, was regarded as obsolescent at the time of the earli,r submission. The linking cables are not considered to be of any strategic importance because of their short length. 3. For these reasons the United Kingdom authorities wish to authorise this export and would be grateful if the member &?overnments would consider this submission on an ad hoc basis and give their views by October 22.
