A. Statement of Objectives
The Geographic Research activity consists of: (a) program formu-
latica, direction, and supervision for the Geographic Area and the
coordination of geographic and > intelligence research and production
within the iB strwcturr

3. Appronimately 1144 geographic intelligence reports and other
substantive intelligence item were produced in FY 1959 -- approximately
the same as the previous yaw.

This includes the production of 12 Annuals in contrast to two published
in FY 19'58.

3. During FY 1959, 1433 maps: charts. graphs and other cartographic
items were produced as, or in support of, finished intelligence. An
additional 547 maps were checked and processed through reproduction by
the NIS Map Coordinator. Total production in the Cartography Division
represented an increase in items processed of more than 161% over FY 1956.
