Intelligence Support for Unconventional Warfare Operations
3. I feel t there be no question raised as to which
CIA or Defense, should house the tig coordinsting activity. The
activity is 4ree4y establithed in the DO and its presence implicitly
accepted by the Military Services. It combs considered to provide
service of common concern. In addition, there appear to be certain
substantive benefits that woulA accrue from its retention in the DD/P.
It follows frau this that the memo could only request the DD/C to secure
formal Defense acknowledgement of the OW coordinating !Unation and raise
the question of Defense contribution of personnel. This Objective is
probably better pursued through direct contact with Defense atter other
aorefUndemental questions are answered

which it prepares selective eoppilatioms fraa *doting intelligence sources
and comducts analyses as necessary to bind the oompiled parts together.
