The collection of topographic maps of Poland published according to
Soviet specifications published in 1953 or later Is one of the highest
priority intelligence requirements, Emphasis should be placed on the
lt25,O04 series published in six or more colors. The two-color edition,
also of post-World War 11 date, is not compiled according to Soviet
specifications.
Post-World War U Polish and Soviet catalogs of triangulation points
(first through fourth order); leveling', astronomic, gravimetric and magnetic
data; and adjustment and conversion data for converting Polish datums, and
grid to the Soviet system are allied requirements of the highest priority.
These maps and data will provide t information which is necessary if
U.S. missiles are to be delivered on target and which will help in developing
estimates of Soviet Bloc missile capabilities; indicators of Soviet preparedness
for initiating an attack; and intelligence for planning and executing military
operations and for assessing econwie developments.
