Individuals who meet the basic requirements, outlined below, are invited to apply for the following course: STRATEGIC IPTTELLIGEP?CE SCHOOL, beginning 13 ugust 1916. Duration: short course, six weeks; long course, twelve Creeks. 2. Applicants should be fully qualified to make a substantial. contribution to the school based on authoritative experience with the mission and functions of CIA. It can be observed from the attached course summary that the lecture schedule includes many of the topics treated in the basic course of the Intelligence School, OTR. Emphasis in the 6trategic Intelligence School, however, is on the military as- pects of intelligence. Applicants, therefore, should be prepared to justify attendance at the SIS an the ground that training with this emphasis is a requirement for their current assignment. The Strategic Intelligence School is designed to provide training in the theory and practical application of strategic in- telligence. It is divided into two six-week periods. Daring the first of these, lecturers survey strategic areas and discuss the substantive components of strategic intelligence. The speakers are highly qualified, experienced rfen, some of whom also lecture at the ,:Tetional 11er College and the other high-level Def nse Schools. During the second period students undertake strategic rese&rch problems. This assignment concerns either the country of the student's choice, or sore phase of strategic intelligence. The course is comprehensive, intended to stimulate intelligence officers by providing them with a widened background in the problen s of top-level intelligence, Cidi- dates with limited experience in the field of intelligence profit most from the primary information presented, while those with more background benefit from a broadened viewpoint. 2.
