INSPECTOR GENERAL'S RECOMMENDATION NO. 11
"The position taken by the Chief, Medical Staff, which precludes
the release of detailed medical files and information outside of the
Medical Staff should be approved. However, the Chief, Medical Staff,
should at the same time be directed to:
"A. Release to competent authority (Deputy Directors or
higher) sufficient information, in the form of sanitized summaries,
to support necessary administrative or executive action.
"B. Provide the Director of Personnel with specific guidance
as to the extent of medical information he may reveal to dis-
qualified employees or prospective employees."

CHIEF, MEDICAL STAFF, COMMENTS REGARDING RECOMMENDATION NO. 11
1. The Medical Staff concurs in Recommendation 11A. In certain
cases, such action is best accomplished on a verbal and personal basis
with the written recommendation used as confirmatory reference.
2. The Director of Personnel, the General Counsel, the Director
of Security, and the Chief, Medical Staff, have recently met in regard
the substance of Recommendation 11B and a paper is in process of pre-
paration from the Director of personnel for forwarding to the Deputy
Director (Support) for approval.
