Establishment of a Senate Subcommittee to Investi-
gate Activities and the Possible Effect upon Project
CORONA
Memorandum for DD/P, some subject, dated 4 March
1959 (COR ?b363)
1. I am inclined to agree with your suggestion that if Symington's
new committee begins to investigate in directions which might uncover
CORONA, we might at an appropriate time wish to brief him on that Project.
I will try this idea out on the Director but anticipate that he will be reluctant
to have this briefing undertaken unless and until the need arises. Accordingly
I would appreciate it if you would keep track from time to time of what the
new committee is doing and advise me if. as and when you think the right
time for a briefing has come.
Z, You might be able to follow their activities through General
Leuhman since he is witting of our interest in CORONA yet has a perfectly
valid Air Force reason for keeping track of the committee activities. Our
own Legislative Counsel (Mr. John Warner) could do this for us if he is
witting of CORONA.
