.Approved For F lease 201 : CIA-RDP62BQ0844R000200240008-9 17 October 1958 DPS-5015 MNDRANDUM FOR: Director of Operations, DPS SUBJECT : Painting of Aircraft 1. The camouflage characteristics of various paints observed in the test in July of this year, indicate that black is the most effective. It is recommended in view of the increased threat from Soviet aircraft with a capability of a zoom climb that all Project aircraft be painted black. It is felt that any consideration given to the security aspect of the paint job must be weighed against the survivability of the plane. If desired, a test of the comparable effectiveness can be had painting the aircraft at_black and25X1A comparing results with which are painted blue. 25X1A 25X1A SECRET Approved For Release 2000/08126 : CIA-RDP62B00844R000200240008-9
