Problems The Branch initiated project, "Impact of Soviet Guided Missiles Program on the Soviet Electronics Industry" (36.2376) is running into difficulty due to the status of agreed estimates on Soviet missile capabilities. The analyst on this Branch project has not been able to go beyond a very preliminary stage. It is believed that the project due date will require revision. 7. Recommendations In connection with the problem stated above it is recommended that this project be rescheduled to tie in more closely with the 1959 NIE schedule. This will also permit the use of the results of the proposed external research contract in the B-200 SAM system, if this project receives EIC approval. The proposed new due date to St/PR is 1 April 1959. The research time left open by this postponement can be utilized effectively by Projects 30.2419, "Economic Session of Soviet Electronics Conference", and 36.2378, "Trends in the European Satellites Electronics Industries". 8.
