1. As agreed in the discussions on evaluating the intelligpnce
results of But West contacts, CD/00 bas prepared a mine run of
reports emanating from those contacts. I* intention was, as you
remmber, that the Offices involved would look at the report numbers
sad indicate to the best of their ability which cues Mould have been
given a rating of "1. Pills a priority need" or "2. Of considerable
value" had they been. evaluated. This should be accomplished by
10 September in preparation four full scale evaluation of the *=hange
?
2. The machine run is divided into three catagories, (a) $xchanges,
(b) Conferences, (c) Ban-official groups and individuals. The key to
the machine run is as follows:
a. First column indicates vhether the report is an
00-B or 00-A.
b. Second Column is the report umber.
co Third column indicates the broad catag0ry of the
subject matter, i.e., SCO - Scientific; BUC -
Nuclear; BIO - Biographic= etc.
d. Fourth column. is the area involved, i.e., Zga
-
USSR and astern European Satellites; W -
Western, Europe; etc.
e. Fifth column indicates the evaluation given to the
report by some element of the intelligence e 'unity.
She numbers correspond to the two appropriate columns
in the attached evaluation blank, i.e., 33 means of
value, possibly true
f. The sixth column indicates the office which performed
the evaluation.
g. Seventh Column is the 00/C case number.
h. The last three columns are the date on .hick the
report vas released.
