Accomplishments
A. Completed ORR Project 20.1788, Conner Trade of the Sino-Soviet
Bloc in 1956. The manuscript was reviewed and approved by the
Division Review Board.
B. Revised the Nonferrous Section of the OCI Handbook on North
Korea.
C. Prepared a short statement for D/A on Ceylon's nonferrous
metals and minerals position.
D. Prepared an item for the OCI Daily on aluminum production in
Communist China.
H. Completed the necessary coordination on the metals and minerals
section of the NIS in Czechoslovakia.
F. Revised and updated the joint CIA-State paper on the current
copper situation in the Sino-Soviet Bloc.
G. Prepared an evaluation of the gain to the Free World of the
Fast :test exchange program in scientific metallurgy for the Secretary
of the IAC Ad Hoc Committee on Exchanges.

A. Because of the unexpected removal of 7mmniimp from this Branch,
a reorganization of the remaining personnel was necessary. We decided
25X1A9ato eliminate the Economics Section and incorporate much of the section's
functions and its Acting Chief, into the USSR Section. The
25X1A9a other member of the section, , was transferred to the
Satellites Section. It is intended that among other things - 25X1 A9a
will continue to supervise the Branch's efforts on copper trade and
will also carry on research in depth on copper in the USSR.
