Accomplishments: During the month of September project 22.1727, 'he Fluorspar and Hydrofluoric Acid Industry of the USSR," underwent further revision in accordance with suggestions made by Chief.. D/M and Chief/E and the revised report was forwarded for publication. Unscheduled project IM 22.1994 entitled "Expansion of the Chemical Fertilizer Industry of Rumania," was revised in accor- dance with suggestions made by Chief D/M and forwarded for publication. Draft report of project 30.1518, NIS-Poland, is still in process of Branch editing and rewrite. This report was due to D/I, the Action Division, 30 September. A?delay of two weeks in submission of this report was cleared with the Section 64 coordinator. Research was continued on project 30.1783, "Soviet AE Program (1957 estimate). Research was continued on project 20.1768, "Regional Civil Consumption of Petroleum in the USSR," due to M/P 16 December 1957. Research was continued on project 30.1911, "Synthetic Fibers and Fabrics in the USSR," due 15 October 1957. Project 10.1996, an evaluation of the Soviet publication, USSR Industry, A Statistical Compilation, was completed and forwarded to D 7A as requested. The first meeting of the EIC Subcommittee on Chemicals in FY 1958 was held 16 September. The principal order of business was review of the existing list of "Priority Research Deficiencies." A new list of deficiencies will be drawn up at the next meeting scheduled for 14 October. Considerable further support was given to STD in connection with project No. 1 +0.1984, ERA Support of EDAC. The new Soviet proposal for long term exchanges of chemical industry delegation was reviewed and a statement coordinated by the EIC Subcommittee on Chemicals was forwarded to the IAC Ad Hoc Committee on Exchanges. Comments on the draft report of project 10.1506, Soviet Ca bilities and Probable Courses of Action Through 1962, were forwarded as requested to D /A. 2. Plans: No comment. 3.
