CHANGED TS S C DDA Memo, 4 7 Auth: DDA REG.77 1763 Date; O602 c By., I_ 25X1A9a MEMORANDUM FOR THE RECORD SUBJECT: Instructor Training respect to instructor training. He has asked that we prepare an in- structor training course for his CIA personnel and subsequently for Among the items accomplished was a meeting vember 1960 25X1A6a 1. On 9 and 10 November visited 25X1A his~ersonnel presumedly sometime after the first of the year. We ass him that this could be done almost anytime at his convenience. The problem of training a number of the new OC instructors arose. The main difficulty seemed to be in extracting these instructors from their daily activities for a long enough period to receive the necessary in- structor training. We suggested that perhaps evening and Saturday sions might be appropriate if the instructors could be spared from their duties. We also suggested that perhaps we coordinate our in- 25X1A9a structQT training activities with the sessions put on there by Professor usually during the late summer months, This appealed to Mr. 25X1 A9a since the men would be in attendance and the problem of leave and actual instructional duties might be at a minimum during this period. The two types of courses (ITC and Effective Speaking) could be easily integrated to complement each other rather than cause any overlap. 25X1A60 25X1A9 25X1 A9a 2. It so happened that d lunch with professor- 25X1 A9~ on 14 November and proposed this concept to him for his reaction. He did not eagerly accept it although he saw where the two could complement each other. His reticence in accepting it was primarily because his experience at has been that he doesn't have 25X1A6a enough time for his course as previously conducted, and he suggested that if this consolidation were effected additional time should be allowed. There was another reason why he was somewhat reticent to effect a con- dation of our efforts. He indicated that although full cooperation 25X1 A6a and eagerness personnel were accorded his training in the planning stages, actual implementation of instruction was difficult since the instructors usually had continuing responsibility for preparing :ure teaching assignments as well as responsibility stem- ming from his course requirements and their interest and attention was divided, 25X1A9a Approved For Release` 1001`107/24: CIA-RDP
