l9 some subject as above,
1. The limiting factors on the ground resolutic
"B" camera in the U-2 are not so aaaicb identified wl
focal length as they are with lens aperture, vehicl? stabil-
ity* and photographic coverage. Increasing the size of the
lens aperture permits the use of a higher abutter speed or
a higher resolution (but lass light sensitive) film. Either
of g theme approaches reduces the effects of aircraft roll,
pitch, and, yaw instability, however, the amount of photo-
graphic coverage will also be reduced due to the smaller
angular coverage of the le..
2. Several approaches have been examined to iucr
the f;rouad resolution for the Cuban requ .rement .
a. A lower speed shutter has been developer and
tested for the "B" camera that will gent the us
the higher resolution 80.130 film. This coubination,
however, is ful only at high sun angles (300 or more)
and may suffer somewhat from image movement +e to air-
craft instability.
b. A proposal baaa been received from
their "0" camera to the 2 configuration,
21" lens 80-132 film and a shutter speed
1/200th. This system would provide over
aI miles of linear coverage with a ground
of 1 1/4 feet. The disadvantages o-f this
