Price quotations were obtained. .ram several uniform speciality shops in the Los flagoles Area. Of the five shops contacted, only one could furnish all of the items of clothing desired. This particular shop also was deemed the 'sort desirable source from the standpoint of tailoring faa ilitiee$, business reputation, quality, weight and-durability of material, delivery time, etc. Cmparativ* costs were obtained from one of the loading local uniform shops and it was found that the pricesThc quoted by the Los Angeles firm were slightly less, desired uniform, which includes both summer and winter lathing, will cost $330.97 per man. We feel there is justification for the relatively large expenditure per man which we are proposing in. the fact that the guards are hired under a three-year contract (with the option to renew for an additional two years). We further believe that since our intent is to make the wearing of this spe- cific uniform a condition of employment, we are obliged to bear a reasonable expense for cleaning and repair. Although these uniforms will be considered as expendable on issue, they will remain the property of the Agency and will be issued to employees on a hand receipt. 5. It is recommended that you waive certain restric- tions imposed byl nd approve: Purchase of uniforms for civilian contract a . at a cost not to exceed $335 per I 25X1A guards man; and b.
