Mission Status Daily Activity Report - 26 August 1963 a. IDEALIST - The U-2 Detachment I Iwas scheduled to fly a mission over North China but was cancelled due to weather. The detachment at Edwards AFZ# California I re in a standby status. b. BRASS KNOB - One SAC U-2 mission was flown over Cuba on 23 August, with an estimated 65% of targets covered and no hostile reactions. Another mission was flown over Cuba on 24 August with a estimated 75% of targets covered and no hostile reactions, and on 15 August one mission was flown with 85% of targets coverer' and no hostile reactions. c. CORONA J Mission #1001 was launched successfully on 25 August at 0030 EDT. On pass 22 vehicle was normal. 2. OXCART Flight Status a. Aircraft #121 (3-58 engines) - Made flight #78 for a duration of 1:06 hours. Purpose - inlet rougbhess Investigations and envelope extension. The actual flight resulted in inlet roughness tests at speeds up to ; .ach 2.16 and altitude of 65, 000 feet. No envelops extension attempt was made and tests were confined to lower Mach numbers b. Aircraft #126 (J-58 engines) - Made flight #15 for a duration of 1:18 hours.
