Approved For Release 2006/12/1-9; : -C--IDP63T00245R000100320008-' 24 October 1960 MEMORANDUM FOR THE RECORD SUBJECT: Telephone Call to Representative Paul J. Kilday (D.. Tex.) Telephoned Representative Kilday in Texas to seek his guidance on the request for comment by the staff of HCUA on the Drew Pearson article alleging Kaminsky and Bennett were under contract to CIA. Basically Mr. Kilday believed that if Francis Walter were raising the specific question with the Agency we would have to consider the fact that he is a responsible Congressman. Mr. Kilday clearly was indicating that he believed we should respond if Mr. Walter were personally interested although he did not go so far as to specifically so advise. Mr. Kilday stated that he gathered there was some truth in the story or also we would be having no problem. He agreed that there was no reason why we should not attempt to put the matter to rest with the staff if this were possible by indicating that we did not wish to comment on this unless Mr. Walter was personally interested in which case Kilday thought we should attempt to see Walter personally. Mr. Kilday then asked how were our men doing in Cuba (obviously referring to the briefing I had given him previously). Mr. Kilday was informed that the situation is basically the same but that the cover stories are still standing. sI John S. 4arr &r JOHN S.
