1. This memorandum contains a recommendation submitted for concurrence
of the undersigned. Such recommendation is contained in Paragraph 5.
2. Contract No* provided
for the development and production of a prototype helmet which would
provide improved visibility and pilot comfort and would provide a replacement
item for the Type MA-2 High Altitude Helmet without change of associated
protective garmets. The helmet was delivered on 10 June 1960 to EAFB.
After field tests and evaluations at EAFB, the helmet was returned to the
Contractor with comments and suggestions for improvement. The helmet was
then submitted to Wright Air Development Center for tests on the electrically
heated visor, which was found to be adequate. The helmet was then returned
to the Contractor. At this time the decision was made by Headquarters that
no further work was to be done on the helmet and by letter DPD-4488-61 dated
21 July 1961, concurred in by the CH/DB/DPD, the Contractor was so advised
and requested to submit its final invoice and reports required by the
contract, which reports have now been recieved.
3. In regard to closing out the contract the following reports are
submitted herewith:
as, Final Audit Report #975, DPD-1698-62, dated 20 March 1962.
b. Final Billing in the amount of $3,196.10.
c. Statement of total costs incurred in performing the contract.
d. Contractor's Release.
e. Contractor's Assignment of Refunds, Rebates and Credits.
f. Final Summary Report*
g. Contractor's statement regarding inventions and patents.

4. By concurrence to this memorandum the Chief, Development Branch,
DPD, signifies that work under the contract was satisfactorily completed,
