CONTRACT A-102 25X1A 25X1A 25X1A 25X1A A. ACTIVITY RELATED TO CUSTOMER A 1. Sustaining Engineering a? Proposed System 3 IRAN Program In September, talked with of Customer A, Detachment G, concerning a program to improve reliability and to standardize System 3. On 2 November, all of Detachment G, met at the Contractor's facility to discuss the solution of System 3 problems that have appeared in Customer A and Contractor field reports. The outcome of this meeting was a proposal that all System 3's be rotated back to the Contractor's Repair and Retrofit Laboratory on an IRAN basis. A. list describing the modifications to be incorporated by the Contractor was compiled and will be forwarded to Customer A. Headquarters for approval. All System 3's in which the above modifications are incorporated will have an MD1 decal placed next to the nameplate. A. technical Information Bulletin will be distributed describing the MD1 modifications incorporated in the System 3 MP- 11048MD1 configuration. b. Information Recorder Modification Configuration Since 23 November, the Contractor has been placing an MDI decal next to the nameplate on each reworked Information Recorder to show the level of modification performed. A. Technical Information Bulletin will be distributed, identifying the MDl modifications incorporated in the Information Recorder MP-12570MD1 configuration. Proposal for System 6 Modification and IRAN Program On 28 October, the Contractor submitted a proposal (CMCC 151x5. 1713) for a System 6 modification and IRAN program. The necessary technical coordination for this proposal was provided by a conference, on 21 October, between The proposal, requested in Customer A Headquarters Message No. 4279, dated 18 October 1960, is a modified version of Contractor Proposal P861 (CMCC 151x5. 1622) dated 25 March 1960. d. Contractor Personnel Shift Contractor representative, left the Contractor's facility on 30 November for a temporary field assignment with Customer A, Detachment H, for a period made a trip to the Customer A local test site on 21 November and remained at the test site through 23 November to coordinate the support of his assignment. of 90 to 360 days. Prior to his departure will assume the in-plant duties of OEM for the duration of this field assignment. e. Customer A Liaison On 24 October, made a trip to the Customer A local test site to assist in the installa- tion of two System 3's. System 3, Serial 4, was reworked in the Contractor's Repair and Retrofit Laboratory. (See 25X1A System 3 overhaul, paragraph A.2.6). On 28 October, returned to the local test site to deliver some System 6 cables and to pick up System 3, Serial 4. On 7 November, visited 25X1A at the Customer A Depot to discuss the Support 25X1A Planning required for the detachment activation with which 25X1A will be connected. Technical Information Bulletins Technical Information Bulletins Nos. 48A.BC and 49ABC were published on 30 November. Both bulletins describe errors in System 3 Instruction Guide, MP-10867, and contain the necessary data for correcting said errors. 25X1A 2. Repair and Retrofit a. Inventory The Repair and Retrofit inventories for October and November are listed in Tables 1 and 2, respectively. b. System 3 Overhaul On 21 October, the Repair and Retrofit Laboratory received a priority request from Detachment G, for the overhaul of System 3, Serial 4. On 28 October, System 3, Serial 4, was returned to the Contractor's facility. Work was started immediately to modify and overhaul System 3's, Serials 4 and 9, to bring them up to an MP-11048MD1 configuration in accordance with the proposed System 3 IRAN Program. (Ref. Proposed System 3 IRAN Program, paragraph A.1.a). All modifications contained in the MP- i i 048MD1 configuration were accomplished except for the rework of the 04 Boards (MP-11036). Lack of time prevented the 04 Boards from being brought up to the MDi configuration. Therefore, 'System 3, Serials 4 and 9, were not sent out as MD1 configurations. Seven Information Recorders were also reworked during November. All seven units were brought up to an MP-12570MD1 configuration. Prior to the MD1 modification, Serial 737 was changed from an MP-10737 to an MP-12570 configuration. (Ref. Information Recorder Modification, paragraph A.1.6). These are the serial numbers of the seven Information Recorders brought up to the MP-12570MD1 configuration: 703, 711 , 733, 737, 760, 768 and 812. The two System 3's and seven Information Recorders were shipped to the Customer A Depot on 23 November. The Contractor will modify six 04 Boards (MP- 11036) and ship them to the Depot for specific use in System 3, Serials 4 and 9. MD1 decals will be sent to the detachment using these systems. Incorporation of the modified 04 Boards in System 3, Serials 4 and 9, and attachment of the MDi decals will bring these systems up to a System 3 MP-11048MD1 configuration. C. Call Contract Procurement The Repair and Retrofit Laboratory is now manufacturing most items ordered on Call Contract in an effort to reduce the manufacturing lead time and set up costs. Reactivation of System 4 During October, the Contractor coordinated logistics support between the Customer C Depot and the Contractor's Representative at Del Rio, Texas, in an effort to reactivate the System 4's at that location. Priority Manufacture of System 4 Cables On 20 October, the Repair and Retrofit Laboratories :received a priority request to manufacture special electrical cables for System 4. The cables were manufactured and shipped to Del Rio, Texas, on 25 October. For detailed information, see paragraph A.2.c. C. ACTIVITY RELATED TO CUSTOMER D 25X1 D 1. Sustaining Engineering Technical Information Bulletin No. 48D was published on 30 November 1960. This bulletin describes errors in the Instruction Guide, MP-12530, and contains the necessary data for correcting said errors. 2. Repair and Retrofit a.
