Your approval is hereby requested to purchase one X-295 Travel-
ing Wave tube, with Type N connectors. This tube is used in the L
band radar and has a life expectancy of about 600 hours. It was
necessary to replace a recent tube failure with the only spare we
had on hand. Consequently, in order to prevent a serious delay in
operations, we should have one spare. It is estimated the tube
will cost about $2, 000.
