committee to investigate at
least five military agencies
under the direct control of
Defense Secretary Robert S.
McNamara.

in McNamara's office which

handled by the s e p a r a t e
services. .
Vinson, who tangled with
McNamara recently over
funds for the RS-70 supersonic
warplane, named Rep. Porter
Hardy Jr. (D-Va.) as head of
the two-man inquiry. The
other member is Rep. William
H. Bates (R-Mass.).
Hardy announced that his
investigation would cover such
organizations as the Defense
Supply Agency, the Defense
Communications Agency, the
Defense Intelligence Agency,
the National Security Agency
and the Defense Atomic Sup-
port Agency.
Hardy said the National Se-
curity Act leaves no doubt as
