Jay Sourwine, Senate Internal
Security Subcommittee staff, called and informed me that two articles
have been written or are being written attacking the Agency. One
was contained in the 24 Juno issue of NATION magazine (I told him
I was aware of this one) and the other is a piece by Robert Light
and Carl Marzani. This second item has been advertised in the
26 June issue of NATIONAL, GUARDIAN MAGAZINE and the ad
indicates that one of the items contained in it is an SS document
reporting on alleged conversations between Mr. Dulles and members
of the Nazi party. Sourwine said he assumed that this was another
forgery and that if we wished to provide the Subcommittee with . a
witness or any information which would counter the effect of these
two articles, the Subcommittee would be glad to serve as the
vehicle for this. I thanked Sourwine for this information and his
offer.
