1. I I- JSW) Talked with Frank Schupp, House
Foreign Affairs Committee, who said the meeting with went
very well and there were no real problems. Made arrangements to pick
up for a copy of the transcript.
2. 0- JSW) In accordance with previous arrangements,
met with Representative L. Mendel Rivers in response to his letter of
8 June. A constituent had forwarded to him one of the Allen-Scott
columns saying that four IRBM missile bases are now ready in Cuba.
I briefed him fully on this. subject including the special efforts in this
regard. He said he had assumed this was the case but simply wanted
to be brought up to date. He did ask about our next meeting with
Mr. McCone and I informed him it is presently set for Friday, the
22nd.

3. JSW) I ladvised further on 25X1
the query from Eastland on the Castro situation saying they had talked
with Allen Evans in Hilsman's shop and a full position is being prepared
for review by the President prior to discussion with Eastland. II 25X1
indicated that since the matter is being handled in part in the
Legal Advisor's office in State they had indicated to Evans that there
are special restrictions regarding CIA reports and if there were any
questions in State 's Legal Advisor's office they should contact the
Agency legal office.
4. 1 1 JGO) Received from Frank Schupp,
with a request that it be returned at our earliest convenience, a copy
of the transcript of the statement of before House 25X1
Foreign Affairs Committee's Subcommittee on Europe, dated 12 dune 1962.
