25X1 3. I I - GLC) Called Diane Kincaid, in the office of
Senator Stuart Symington, in connection with correspondence from Mr.
25X1 which had been forwarded to us by the Senator's office.
25X1 I advised Miss Kincaid thatII had been in touch with our
field office and that as a result of that contact our people met with
25X1 ho had been the subject ofII letters. I asked Miss Kincaid
25X1 se- would like a note on this and she said it would not be necessary, that
she would give the Senator a note herself. She did mention in passing that
25X1 had called and spoken with the Senator several days ago. However,
she is not aware of the substance of the conversation.

25X1 4. - GLC) I called John Leahy, Congressional Relations
Office of State Department, and advised him of my conversation with Mrs.
Birtch, secretary to Mr. Fred Dutton in State Department, concerning State's
letter to Senator Dirksen regarding the 25X1
25X1 II Leahy said he was going to drop by Dirksen's office and talk with
Comien to determine if the Senator's office had all the information it
desired on this subject. Mr. Leahy will inform Mks. Birtch of our conversa-
tion. I advised Leahy that I understood that the Senator had written a second
letter to the Department forwarding a copy of a form letter from 25X1
and that State was preparing a similar response to this letter.
