1. (Unclassified - GLC) After several discussions with
STAT I advised Mr. Lee, State Department,
that this Agency had no objection to the letter prepared jointly by
STAT State and as a response to Representative Reuss'
STAT inquiry on Lee was not aware of the letter
from Reuss but said he would be in touch with his people on it and
appreciated our call. I made it clear to Lee, however, that our
concurrence in this letter did not indicate any agreement on the part
of this Agency for a full scale briefing of Representative Reuss. Mr.
Lee said he appreciated our position in this matter.
