1. I I William Saltonstall in the office of
Senator Leverett Saltonstall called in connection with the
case. Saltonstall pointed out that he
which the Senator signed. He indicated he hoped we were going to be
able to take care of some of the medical bills and also mentioned the
security point. I told him we were pulling this together and would be
in touch with him soon. In the meantime, Saltonstall indicated
on various documentation to support the medical bills tor payme
under the insurance policies. Further, a detailed letter has been
prepared and is going forward to
2. I called Mr. Dean Howells, State Departn-e nt,
to check on the status of the letter State agreed to prepare for the Director
to use in transmitting to the Joint Committee on Atomic Energy SNIE 22-62.
(See Journal of 7 November.) Howells indicated the Department was
"dragging its feet" somewhat in preparing this letter because
Howells called back later in the day and said that arrangements
had been made with Mr. Walter Elder for the Department to postpone
sending the JCAE transmittal letter to us until after 25 November.
