I advised Moran that th s ma er a een taken up with the Director who indicated he would like to discuss this personally with Senator Smathers. Moran and I agreed that we would leave this to the Director and Senator Smathers. ~, Bill Darden, Senate Armed Services Committee s a , ca e o say at he had talked with Senator Russell concerning our briefing of the Committee. Senator Russell indicated it would be impossible to have the briefing this week and suggested that we try to arrange it for the following week. Darden indicated that the dates of 31 July and 2 August were not available as far as the Committee was concerned. I suggested the possibility of VV'ednesday morning, 1 August.
