Committee on Foreign Affairs: Subcommittee on Inter-
American Affairs heard a briefing from Richard N.
Goodwin, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Inter-
American Affairs; and deLesseps S. Morrison, U.S.
representative to the Council of the Organization of
American States.
PUBLIC LANDS
Committee on Interior and Insular Affairs: Subcommit-
tee on Public Lands heard testimony from Representa-
tive Harding, and departmental witnesses, on H.R. 9097,
to authorize the Secretary of the Interior to sell certain
public lands in Idaho. The subcommittee recessed
until Friday, January ig.
GAMBLING
Committee on Interstate and Foreign Commerce: Con-
tinued hearings on H.R. 3024, and related bills, to
prohibit the transportation of gambling devices in
interstate and foreign commerce, and heard testimony
from Representatives Cramer and Pelly. Hearings
continue Friday, January i9.
TAXES
Committee on Ways and Means: Met in executive ses-
sion for consideration of "discussion draft" bill embody-
ing tentative decisions of committee made prior to
adjournment of first session relative to the President's
i96z tax recommendations. The committee will con-
tinue, in executive session, on this subject, Monday,
January 22.

oint Committee on Atomic Energy: Co mittee met in
executive session to receive a briefing on U.S. under-
ground nuclear weapons tests, receiving testimony from
Chairman Glenn Seaborg, and other AEC officials, and
Dr. Harold Brown, Director of Defense Research and
Engineering, who was accompanied by his associates.
