As an example of one COS who seems to appreciate being inspected,
I cite ______________________and immodestly quote the following frcas his
letter of 21 December:
"Dear Dave,
"I received your letter and certainly appreciats your
discussing with J.C. the personnel matter which you and I
talked over. Even though, as you said in your letter, he
did not manifest any particular interest or say that he
would do anything concerning this problem, he evidently
took what you said seriously as since then I have received
word from him concerning this individual's transfer. It is
not coming about as soon as I desired, but at least it is
in the mill.

"As you know, the Assessment Team was here
three weeks after you-were here. From what I heard after
they finished with us, we made a good showing. I attribute
this a great deal to your visit, because as a result of your
visit and comments and observations made by you while here,
I was prompted to make a few changes and take action along
certain lines which improved the Station considerably."

I sounded off quite freely. This illustrates the value of a good relaxed
summing-up session before leaving a station.
