1. In 1923 the Orenburg Eastern Institute was reorganized as the Bashkir Ped-
agogical Institute. This institute is not known to have any intelligence
implication although several Ri sian nationals later recruited for the SIS
reeeaeaeg-ee- attended the institute. It served primarily as a
school for teachers' cadres in Cnetral Asia.
2. In 1949 an Air Force Military School was reported to be located in the above
