1. The Assistant Secretary of Defense for Civil Defense has asked
this Agency to request that CIA prepare a briefing on Soviet Civil
Defense, and present the briefing to the Hebert Subcommittee of the
Ruse Armed Services Con mittee. The date of presentation is not
fire,, but will be during the two week period 28 May - 11 June 1953.
2. It Is further requested that you designate a direct point of
contact for CIA directly with dir. William B. Durkee, Deputy Assistant
Secretary of Defense (Civil Defense), Code 11, extension 5938kx for
further arrangement of details and dates of presentation.
