JOINT COMMITTEE ON ATOMIC ENERGY ANNOUNCES
WITNESSES FOR PRIVATE OWNERSHIP HEARINGS
A list of witnesses to present testimony before
the Joint Committee on Atomic Energy at hearings on
legislation to provide for the private ownership of
special nuclear material (S. 1160 and H.R. 5035) was
announced today.
Under the legislation,pr9po.sed by the Ac,omic
Energy Commission, private ownership of nuclear fuel
would be permitted during a transition period, after
which private ownership would become mandatory. The
legislation would also permit the AEC to offer uranium
enrichment services to industry on a service-charge basis.
The hearings will be held in the public hearing
room of the Joint Committee, Room AE-1, U.S. Capitol,
June 9 - 11, 1964. Morning and afternoon sessions have
been scheduled to begin respectively at 10:00 a.m. and
2:00 P.M.
