Approved For Release 2004/11/29 : CIA-R APr 0 403R000200070029-0 .I Excerpt from Journal Office of the Legislative Counsel Friday - 7 February 1964 Talked with Representative Gerald R. Ford, soliciting his views on John Lindsay. Mr. Ford stated that he thought Lindsay was an intelligent, aggressive Congressman, obviously one who is going places. He speculated about Lindsay as a Senator or even Governor of New York and who knows what after that. It was Ford's very strong view that if anything were to be done in connection with Lindsay's criticism of CIA it should be done personally with Lindsay by Mr. McCone. Mr. Ford volunteered that he wished the members of the Appropriations Subcommittee of CIA could take to the floor in the defense of the CIA. He stated just recently when Zablocki commented on a Joint Committee for CIA that he, Ford, felt a strong urge to rise in support of the Agency. He pointed out, of course, that all of the members are under a strong injunction from Mr. Cannon not to speak about CIA publicly and he does not feel, therefore, that he is in a position to go contrary to this. He added that he and Mr. Mahon have discussed this very problem on many occasions and feel considerable concern about it. Mr. Ford also requested that we send him the FBIS Daily so that he can keep current on foreign comment on the Warren Commission looking into the assassination of President Kennedy. JOHN S.
