Pursuant to the request of Representative Gerald R. Ford, made arrangements with FBIS to furnish 25X1 to Mr. John Ray in the Congressman's office the White Book starting today. Also requested that copies for the last week to ten days of the White Book be sent Mr. Ray also. said this would be taken care of. 2. Peggy MacDonald in Senator Henry M. Jackson's office said the Senator had asked her to call me concerning the status of clearance for one had 25X1 apparently applied for a position at Capital Radio Engineering Institute which involved access to classified information. After checking this with Securit and in NSA, I advised Miss MacDonald that of NSA would be in touch with her very shortly and that CIA was not concerned in this particular case. 25X' 25X 25XI 3. Met for an hour and 45 minutes with F to listen to his complaints regarding the termination of his contract employment and his claim that the Agency never did pay him. for overtime work performed in 1959, 1960 and 1961. This con- versation was held in the office of Representative Joel Broyhill, with Mr. Jack White, of Broyhillts staff, sitting in. The Congressman was not present. See Memo for the Record for details. 4. Received a request from Walter Besterman, House Immigration Subcommittee staff, for any information we might be able to provide regarding a Chinese Nationalist who is the subject of a suspension of deportation order. This will be checked with CI Staff. Delivered to George Murphy, Joint Committee on Atomic Energy staff, five copies of an unclassified study entitled "Report on Soviet Research in Plasma Physics and Controlled Thermonuclear Fusion." I advised Murphy that this study had been prepared at the instance of our OSI people and although it was unclassified, there should be no attribution to the Agency with respect to it. In response to his request for information regarding the case of I merely repeated theinformation which Mr. Murphy had received from Mr. Elder asking that the Committee be patient in this matter and referred Mr. Murphy to a number of State Department releases today regarding the case. 6. Returned to Tom Keena, in the office of Representative Emilio Q. Daddario, the original of the letter which the Congressman had received from I advised Keena that we had cabled the field and received a repl indicatin that had taken the initiative to meet with our man and the reason for the contact was a further attempt on part for employment. I advised Mr. Keena that we were expecting a detailed report and would be in touch with the Congressman when this had been submitted. 7. I I Dropped by the office of David Martin, Staff Assistant to Senator Thomas J. Dodd. Mr. Martin said he had completed the bulk of his draft of a speech for the Senator on attacks on the Agency and said he hoped to have the draft completed some time tomorrow. In accordance with a prior request, arrangements were made for Mr. Colby, FE, and I to meet with Mr. Martin tomorrow. 8. In response to Congressman Mathias' request for information concerning the JOT Program, I advised Miss Toole, his assistant, that our program is open and provided her with a brochure and application forms. U v1111 LViC .L t i11y, Associate Counsel, House Post Office and Civil Service Committee, learned that the dual compensation bill could well come up on the floor of the House on Monday, 17 February, although final scheduling has not yet actually been made. It is hoped that the pay bill will come befoxe. Rules Committee at its next full session, the week of the 17th, but Chairman Judge Smith has not committed himself as to the date for hearing. In meeting with Mr. Russell Blandford, Counsel, House Armed Services Committee, Mr. Blandford indicated that the chairman's time for at least the next two weeks will probably be filled with military matters. Once the series of hearings starting next week, Monday, 17 February, are completed, we may get back to Agency matters. -iN .
