6. I 1 Met with Mr. Russell Blandford
and advised him that our Office of Personnel had interviewed
Present indications as a result of a very favorable interview
are that receive consideration for the JOT Program.
Mr. Blandford indicated that the young man had been well recommended
to the Chairman and to himself.
Reviewed the proposed agenda for tomorrow's
meeting with the u comma tee. Mr. Blandford expressed the hope that
it would be possible for Mr. McCone to proceed through the agenda without
too much interruption so as to allow completion within the time available.
7. Transmitted to Mr. Paul Goulding,
Administrative Assistant to Senator Pell, a copy of the Agency letter to
I concerning her application for employment with
the Agency. Mr. Goulding thanked me very much for the Agency's careful
assistance in this matter.
8. et briefly with Mr. William
Gulledge, benate Post Office and i.vi Service Committee, on the status
of the pay raise. Although the Senate Committee is endeavoring to meet
as frequently as possible, the press of other business. has limited their
ability to meet each day this week. It appears very unlikely therefore
that final passage of the bill can be accomplished prior to the Republican
Convention in July.
9. Attempted during the day to schedule
the final day o earing with the Moss Subcommittee for Friday of this
week. However, a poll of Committee members indicated that such a
meeting is not possible. It was tentatively agreed that we would attempt
to schedule for Wednesday, Thursday or Friday, June 24, 25, or 26.
