JOURNAL
OFFICE OF LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL
Thursday - 16 April 1964
i. Met with Mrs. Eilleen S. Case,
Administrative Assistant to Congressman Craig Hosmer (R., Calif.),
concerning the Congressman's letter of 13 April to Mr. McCone requesting
details relating to one II a United States diplomat, referred to by
Guy Richards of the NEW YORK JOURNAL AMERICAN. I advised Mrs.
Case that the Agency was not in a position to- comment on these articles.
I did, however, provide her- with some background information on the
I matter for the Congressman's information and provided a
copy of the State Department release dated April 1964. Mrs. Case indi-
cated that she understood the Agency's inability to comment and stated
her belief that Mr. Hosmer would also. It was indicated that no written
reply or other action by the Agency on this matter would be expected. Mrs.
Case indicated in passing that the particular constituent who had been
pressing on this matter had apparently gone to considerable expense and
effort to learn as much as he had about the case. She indicated that he
had not only furnished the name of the individual to the -Congressman but
also provided the reference to the page and year of the State Department
Biographic Register from which he had obtained a biography of the indi-
vidual concerned. Mrs. Case will look to the Senate Judiciary Committee
and State Department for any further information desired.

Assistant to Senator Thomas Kuchel (R., Calif.), called and requested
advice on how :1 -1 25X1
