Miss Fosdick inquired on behalf of Senator Henry M. Jackson our views on an invitation for the Senator to speak to a group. The invitation came with a letter from the Chinese Ambassador to the U. S. The invitation involves making the keynote 50X1 speech to the Council of Asian Peoples Anti-Communist League in Taipei during the period 23 - 27 November. The Senator would like to know our views on his accepting the invitation. I told Miss Fosdick we would look into this and advise. 50X1 3. Congressman Ogden Reid was in touch to express his a-p-preciation at the opportunity of talking with Agency 50X1 people He also asked several questions about the recent Arab summit conference. 50X1 4. Made arrangements through the Senate Foreign Relations Committee for a Miss Adams, in the office 50X1 of Senator Kuchel, to receive a copy of the report on Vietnam. Miss Adams had been referred to us by Robert Manning of State Department. (This is in accordance with arrangements previously made with Mr. Robert E. Spoke with Mr. Joseph McIntyre, in the office of Senator Edward Kennedy, regarding a constituent request for a copy of the report on Vietnam. I advised Mr. McIntyre that this document still carried an official use only limitation notwithstanding the fact there had been references to it in a number of newspaper articles. However, I added that arrangements had been made with the Senate Foreign Relations Committee for the Senator's office to receive a copy of this report for their use. 12. Talked with Miss Natalie Martin, in the office of Senator George Smathers, who said she had made arrange- ments for me to see Senator Smathers at 11:45 tomorrow to discuss news- paper articles on missiles in Cuba. (OCI has prepared a briefing paper on this.) 14. reviewed in part the draft report of the Senate Committee on Armed Services relating to H. R. 8427. The draft was not in a condition normally anticipated for a first draft.
