Seattle, Washington
I returned from my peripatetic wanderings in the Far East
toward the end of June, only to find that I had a new job. They asked
me to take over DDR following Pete Scoville's regrettable decision to
resign in mid-June. As you might suspect, the month just past has
been a full one.
However belatedly, I did want you to know how much I enjoyed
the Alaskan portion of our trip. It was by far the best organized leg,
and we learned a great deal.
The fishing was something quite apart, and I had a marvelous
time at ling Salmon. Your only problem now is that our laud praises
here in Washington will probably double your tourist trade. Incidentally.
I wrote the letter to SR on our mutual friend which you wanted me to.
as very nice to meet your wife and colleagues, and the
dinner we had my last night there was most enjoyable.
