Fighter Reactions -- The pilot reported seeing con-
trails twice during the mission. The first sighting was
of two contrails low and to the left of the U-2 while in
the vicinity of Canton. The second sighting was over Leiyang,
where the pilot reported seeing one contrail to his right
and low. The contrail level was approximately 43,000 to
56,000 feet. During both contrail observations the pilot
was unable to identify the type of fighter aircraft or to
distinguish color or markings.

A preliminary study of the mission photography shows
that 63 targets were covered in nearly cloud-free photography,
including 11 airfields, 34 military complexes, 2 naval
facilities, and 16 industrial complexes. These targets
included 45 on the COMOR list; one scheduled COMOR target was
not photographed because of cloud cover.
