Dear Jim:
Following are comments on the Boston `fork Statement for the Lanyard
Program. Work statement used for basic reference is that dated 20
June 1962.
Paragraphs 1 through 17 are acceptable.
Ref. Paragraph 18 - Paragraph should reflect that Boston will
provide 83 film spools for a five (5)
flight program. These should be delivered
in accordance with the film spool-transit v
case schedule developed by Boston. Boston
is to provide productive flanges for the
G.F.E. transit cases.
Paragraph 19 - SE has never received the production lists
designating spares. Therefore recommend
that the date be adjusted to 15 August and L/
that SE approval will be granted 30 days
thereafter. We will try to better the 30
days.
Ref. Paragraph 20 - This paragraph is acceptable. 1
Ref. Paragraph 21 - Sub-paragraph a. should be changed to read
as follows: "Inspection of the material
to be delivered from Boston shall be at
a level deemed necessary by Boston and
approved by the government to insure
performance."
Balance of this paragraph is acceptable.
Sub-paragraph b. In the last sentence
insert the word "instrument" before the
word "transit".

Ref. paragraph 26 - 2nd sentence of sub-paragraph d. should be
changed to read "A summarizing report shall
be forwarded 45 days after the subsystem
qualification test program.
Paragraph 27 is acceptable. '/~
It is also recommended that a statement be included in the work state-
ment recognizing the role of System Engineering in the affirmation of
requirements, representation of the government during acceptance testing
and review of designs and reliability programs. It is my understanding
that has submitted the desired wording.
