Attached for your study and guidance is a memorandum from the
President on Preventing Conflicts of Interest on the Fart of Advisers
and Consultants to the Government. This memorandum sets forth
both legal and ethical considerations applying to Government
Consultants.
In order for this office to carry out its responsibility to avoid the use
of the services of consultants or advisers in situations in which violation
of the conflict-of-interest laws or of these regulations may occur, it is
necessary for you to supply a statement of your private employment and
financial interests. The statement should indicate the names of all the
companies, firms, research organizations and educational institutions
which you are serving as employee, officer, member, director, or
consultant, and the companies in which you have any other financial
interest, such as the ownership of securities or other interests which
have a significant financial value. You need not reveal precise amounts
of investments,
Your cooperation in submitting the necessary information to this office
at your earliest convenience will be greatly appreciated. Please let
me know if I can be of assistance to you in connection with the
President's memorandum.
