1, 010 advised Mr. Trueheart of the Department of State on the
question of intelligence support to the Senior Representative Europe
that CIA:
a, considers the problem of National Intelligence Estimates is
taken care of with their provision to Livingston Merchant by State;
be considers SRE need for that full Watch Committee Report was
decided when ILC disapproved its &insemmination to ORE - the Watch
Committee report summary is given to Livingston Merchant by State;
c. Is not prepared to publish a special version of CCI material
for use of the SRI;
d. participates in arrasgeasents already in existence for the
provision of 0 support in Europe;
e. considers State, vheA it provides intelligence support for
the SEE, has already included in that intelligence support CIA
information; and
f. It there are additional requirements whether for current
intelligence, information, or other, should receive these
requirements rcmme to am consider them case by case: for
example, If it is determined by SRI and State that additional
Iie; support is necessary the requirement can be laid on n by
if it is determined by SRE and State that State cannot meet
the current intelligence requirements of SRI then an additional
requirement can be laid an OCI by State.
2. In a conversation with Mr. Furman, Intelligence Officer for
SRE, in his visit an 9 December to the Department of State, AD/IC advised,
in general, that the needs of SEE for intelligence be met through the
Department of State.
