SUBJECT: Departmental Participation in Production of.
CIA Report
REFEIENCE: ORE 55-48
1. Problem.
To examine the probable nature of such provisional government
for eastern Germany as the Soviet Union may ~' tablish in consequence
of the establishment of Trizonia in the west.
2. Scope.
This estimate will. cover the following points:
a. Organization of existing government In eastern Germany..
b. Operation of existing government.
c. Requirements of a provisional goverment for eastern
Germany.

w,(in terms of conditions likely to obtain when sa ch a move is undertaken).
3. Deadlines.
A draft for coordination with the departmen al intelligence organi-
nations is desired by 7 July 1948.
