Twenty-six Daily Summaries, four ftekly Summaries and two
mates in the ORIS Series were published during April.
I# One Situation Report II has been completed and prepared
for publications Substantial concurrences were received from the IAB
agencies with only minor recoa,mendations for changes, which have been in-
corporated. IAB reactions to the initial report in this series were
favorable and indicated that the utility of this series may be ,appreci-
able. This office believes that improvements can and will be made in
future reports in this series, and will continue to work toward this
objective. Six others are in active preparation scheduled for comple-
tion during may.
. Two Special Estimates in the ORE Series were completed and
prepared for coordination, seven others are in active preparation
and four are in deferred status.
. The Branches have progressed in the development, of National
Intelligence Requirements. In coordinating this activity, Intelligence
aff has dispatched for recommendation of IAB agencies the followings
elligence Requirements on U.S.S.R. and Korea are being do
orrod pending the completion of Situation Reports on these areas.
Working drafts of National Intelligence Requirements for
have been completed.
. A valluable by-product of the Situation Report is the utility
it of orde not only as a guide to the development of National Intelli-
gence neegulreementa, but also as a check against the adequacy of intelli-
gence data received.
Detailed summaries of intelligence production are included

In addition to the regularly scheduled _ORE o al presentations,
five special presentations were arranged for CIG, and a total of 40
briefings by ORE of ilitar , Naval and Air Attaches were cianducteed.
Oral and graphic presentation activities are summarized in detail under
Tab a B" .

~++. Recommendations have been prepared regarding the integration
within the Intelligence Staff of a Basic Intelligence Division. including
statement of functions and tentative table of organization.
b. Defense Project: Agreement was reached by all TAB agencies
to meet ! July deadlines for completion of Strategic Intelligence Digest
outlines.
The status of these and other planning projects are
under Tab RC".

Branch were activated during this period.
b. The Functional Branch has completed a study entitled "Infor-
mation on Strategic Minerals* as a basis for the compilation of infor-
mation required for the Arm-Navy Munitions Board*
e. Intelligence producing activities of the Branches are sum-
merized in detail under Tab OD". The Scientific and Reference Branches
activities are dealt with in Tab AD", Part III and IV respectively.
